Jet A-1 is a kerosene-based fuel suitable for most turbine engines. It has a flash point of at least 38°C and a freezing point of no more than -47°C. The main specifications fully complies with the Aviation Fuel Quality Requirements for Joint Operations Systems (AFQRJOS) JIG Checklist issue 36 (21/2/2025) and embodies the requirements of the British specification DEF STAN 91-91 (Jet A-1) – issue 12 (28/1/2026), NATO code F-35 (formerly DERD 2494), and the ASTM specification D1655 (Jet A-1).

What is SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel)?
Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) is a sustainable aviation fuel made from renewable resources such as waste materials, residual products from agriculture and forestry, as well as other biological sources. In contrast to traditional fossil jet fuel, SAF can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 80% throughout its entire life cycle. This makes SAF a central solution in the work to reduce global aviation’s climate footprint.

JP-8
JP8 with NATO code F34 has the same specification as the civilian version Jet A-1 and is a Kerosene based fuel, but with the addition of corrosion inhibitors and anti-icing additives (Anti-oxidants, SDA and MDA). JP8 regulates under the specifications MIL-DTL 83133L (Amendment 1)-14/3/2025 and DEF STAN 91-87 while Jet A-1 is specified under DEF STAN 91-91.
